Watch: Air India Passenger Pays Rs 1,000 Extra Only To Get A Broken Window Seat, Airline Reacts
"They called the engineer to fix it, but he couldn't. Is this what I paid the flight fare for?" the furious passenger asked.

Several airlines have opted for strategies to maximise profits from passengers, including charging hefty prices for basic onboard meals and preferred seating, leaving passengers with no choice but to pay extra. However, what happens when you shell out more for a specific seat and it turns out to be broken? This scenario recently frustrated a passenger on an Air India flight from Delhi to Bengaluru. After paying an additional Rs 1,000 for a window seat, the passenger was dismayed to find that the seat was broken. Despite calling for assistance, the issue remained unresolved, leaving the seat unusable and the passenger irritated.

Sharing footage and images of the incident on X, the passenger slammed the airline for poor management and even tagged authorities to look into the matter. Sharing the post, the passenger wrote, “Paid extra 1000 for a broken window seat (22A) on Air India AI512 from DEL to BLR on 4th April. They called the engineer to fix it, but he couldn’t. Is this what I paid the flight fare for? Can’t I at least expect a proper seat after paying so much?”

Following the passenger’s social media complaint over the broken seat, Air India quickly responded by requesting their booking details. Later, the airline assured the passenger that they would conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and take necessary steps to resolve the issue.

When a social media user inquired if the passenger was compensated or provided with an alternative seat, the passenger asserted that the airline did not offer any form of assistance.

A user commented that the issue with the seat cushion appeared minor and easily fixable, suggesting that seats could be repaired using Velcro. They also mentioned that the cushion’s ability to float could be crucial during unfortunate events such as water landings.

Another compared Air India with Emirates and claimed that despite higher ticket prices, Air India provides a lower quality experience with broken seats, no entertainment systems and delayed flights.

An individual expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of air travel and suggested that buses are much better than flights.

One more stated that all carriers prioritise profit over providing acceptable service to customers.

Despite the passengers’ claims that Air India failed to offer them an alternative seat, the outcome of the complaint remains undisclosed. However, since the post was shared on X, it has gone viral and garnered over 7,000 views.
