Videos featuring heated fights and arguments often go viral on the internet for seemingly no reason at all. When these altercations spill onto the streets, the situation can become even more chaotic, drawing large crowds. As verbal disputes escalate, participants frequently resort to makeshift ‘weapons of choice,’ such as slippers, brooms, utensils, helmets, sticks, and more. This was evident in a recent video where a group of men were seen using slippers to strike each other following a heated argument.
Shared on social media platform X, the video captured scenes on a street in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. In the video, three men could be seen hitting a man with slippers when another intervened to stop them. However, the situation gets out of hand when all of them end up hitting each other.
Amid this, the person recording the clip continues to ask the men, seen in the video, to keep beating each other. The video was shared online with a post in Hindi that translated to “Can anyone tell me how many times “mare deo” and “maro” were uttered during this chappal war that took place in Lucknow?”

In reaction to the video, social media users were left divided. While many couldn’t help but laugh at the scenario, some called out the problematic behaviour.
A user wrote, “I keep forgetting while watching the video.”

Another shared details about the incident and wrote, “On Thursday morning at 9 o’clock, near the intersection on Mahona Kursi Road in the Mahona outpost area under the Itaunja police station, Rajesh Kumar Verma got into a fierce fight with Pramod Soni and Narendra Soni over an altercation.”

One even joked that the “chappal war” reminds him of the “Baghpat war.”

Some hilariously suggested the makers of Prime Video’s Panchayat take inspiration from the fight for the next season. The video has garnered over 3,00,000 views on the microblogging platform. Meanwhile, it is not the only ‘chappal war’ from the lanes of India.
Earlier in 2022, a video showing an elderly man and a middle-aged man beating each other with slippers caught the internet’s attention.

Their argument initially began verbally, but they soon started hitting each other aggressively. After going on for some time, a third man finally enters and stops the fight.
