Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held wide-ranging talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin as they visited the All-Russian Exhibition Centre in Moscow on Tuesday. PM Modi also discussed the Russia-Ukraine war with Putin and said, ‘For restoration of peace, India is ready to cooperate in all ways.”
Thanking Russia for helping India meet its fuel requirements, PM Modi said, “The world should accept that India-Russia agreement regarding fuel played a big role in bringing stability to the international market.”
In addition to this, PM Modi and Russian President Putin held talks over a variety of issues ranging from the growing India-Russia ties to terrorism and many more.
PM Modi Discusses Russia-Ukraine War
During his bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, PM Modi highlighted the Russia-Ukraine war and said India is ready to cooperate in all ways to restore peace in both the countries. “For restoration of peace, India is ready to cooperate in all ways…I assure you and the world community that India is in favour of peace. Listening to my friend Putin talk about peace yesterday, gives me hope. I would like to say to my media friends – Possible,” Prime Minister Modi said.
PM Modi on Russia’s Role In Fulfilling India’s Fuel Demands
PM Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Russia, credited President Vladimir Putin for helping India to fulfill its fuel demands. “When the world faced a shortage of food, fuel and fertilisers, we did not allow our farmers to face problems and ties with Russia played an important role in it,” PM Modi asserted.
PM Modi Mentions Killing of Innocent Children
Prime Minister Modi and Putin held a detailed discussion on the pain caused due to loss of lives. PM Modi during the discussion said, “Be it war, conflicts, terror attacks – everyone who believes in humanity is pained when there is loss of lives. But when innocent children are murdered, when we see innocent children dying, it is heart-wrenching. That pain is immense. I also held a detailed discussion with you over this.”
PM Modi Met Putin 17 Times in Last 10 Years
Talking about the strong relation that India shares with Russia, PM Modi said, “I have had ties with Russia as well as you since the past 2.5 decades. In about 10 years, we have met 17 times. In the last 25 years, we have had around 22 bilateral meetings. This reflects the depth of our relations.”
PM Modi on Terrorism
Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the meeting highlighted the problem of terrorism that India is facing since the last 40 to 50 years and strongly condemned it. “India has been facing terrorism for 40 years. We know how horrible and disgusting terrorism is. So, when terror incidents occurred in Moscow, when terror incidents occurred in Dagestan, I can imagine how deep its pain would be. I strongly condemn all kinds of terrorism.”
PM Modi Congratulates Putin For Winning Elections
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Putin for securing victory in the elections held in Russia and expressed his gratitude for his grand welcome in the country. He said, “Excellency and my friend, I express gratitude to you for this grand welcome and honour. We received an unprecedented victory in the elections in India. I also express gratitude for the greetings that you extended after that. In March, you too registered a grand victory in elections. I extend my greetings to you once again.”
