Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have wished “health and healing” for Catherine, Princess of Wales, after she revealed she has cancer.
In a brief statement, the estranged British royal and his American wife said they hoped Kate and her family were able to heal “privately in peace”.
Kate Middleton’s Cancer Diagnosis
Catherine, 42, revealed on Friday she has been diagnosed with cancer and is in the “early stages” of treatment.
The princess, known as Kate, described her diagnosis as a “huge shock” in a video statement released on social media.

The news comes two months after she had temporarily stepped away from public life following what Kensington Palace said at the time was surgery for a non-cancerous abdominal condition. Subsequent tests revealed cancer had been present.
Details of her cancer have not been disclosed. However, Kate, who is married to the heir to the British throne, Prince William, said she is “well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.”
The Kensington Palace also said in a statement that the princess is confident that she will make a full recovery.
The devastating news for the British monarchy comes at a time when King Charles III is undergoing treatment for an unspecified cancer, which was announced by Buckingham Palace in early February.
The Royal Feud
Harry came to London in early February this year to visit his father a day after he began treatment. However, it is believed that he did not meet his brother during the trip.
Harry, who married former actress Meghan in a fairytale wedding in 2018, was at one time very close to William. However, their relationship reportedly soured since the younger prince announced he was stepping back from royal duties. Harry mentioned the feud in his memoir, Spare.
The brothers have reportedly not spoken in months after Harry’s public criticism of his family.
Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior royals in January 2020 and subsequently moved to California in America by June of that year where they live with their two children Archie and Lilibet.
Meanwhile, King Charles also reacted to his daughter-in-law’s medical condition and said he was “so proud” of Catherine for “her courage in speaking as she did” in sharing her cancer diagnosis, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said late Friday.
Charles said he “remained in the closest contact” with Kate since they received treatment at the same London hospital, and that he and Queen Camilla will “continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time.”
