AEW star Serena Deeb has spilled the beans on the reason for taking a break from the wrestling circuit recently. When Deeb suddenly disappeared from the company’s roster, many thought it was due to a heated argument with the management. Amid ever-growing speculations of her potential return, Deeb has come forward to clear her stance on the matter.
The American wrestler has dropped a face-cam video on Instagram where she referred to some serious health issues as the cause of her absence. According to Deeb, she has suffered a series of 3 unprovoked seizures since last October which forced her to stay out of professional wrestling.

“I just wanted to share with you today a little bit about what’s been going on with me. Since last October, I’ve had a series of three unprovoked seizures. This has been a really dramatic period for me. It’s affected my career and it’s affected my life in a lot of ways. It’s been really scary for me,” the 37-year-old explained.
Despite seeing several doctors and doing all the required tests, Deeb initially was unable to detect the main reason behind her struggle. That’s why she began to study more about seizures and got to learn about the challenges related to the disease.
Showing her empathy for people dealing with seizures, Deeb said, “I have kept this very private and then I started learning more about seizures and how much more common it is. I didn’t realize how many people experience seizures. Now, I know how scary it is and I just want to send the message that you are not alone and there is always light at the end of the tunnel.”
Before signing off, the former WWE star revealed the “good news” that her fans were eagerly waiting for during her absence from the ring. According to Deeb, she is now ready to wrestle again and will surely make a comeback on AEW in the near future.
“I saw my neurologist recently and he told me that I have recovered and healthy. That means I am ready to return. Hopefully, the next time you guys see me, I’ll be in the ring doing exactly what I do best,” the Professor said.
After parting ways with WWE, Serena Deeb signed a new contract with AEW back in 2020 and made her debut for the company in September of that year in a one-on-one battle against then-NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa. Deeb remained a constant feature on AER television till October last year. She was last seen in action at the AEW Dark: Elevation.
