BMW had unveiled the new 5 Series sedan last year and is now launching it in India. The updated 5-series takes design cues from its elder sibling – the 7-Series and is larger in dimensions and lighter in weight than the outgoing model. Interestingly, the latest BMW offering will be produced at the company’s Chennai-based manufacturing facility which is also expected to keep the price tag of the car competitive. The car is expected to be launched in three variants – 520d, 530d and 530i. In terms of what’s new, one of the most anticipated features is the gesture controls for the infotainment system, remote parking function and more which were first seen on the 7-series. Upon launch, the new 5-series sedan will compete against the likes of the Mercedes E-class long-wheelbase, the Audi A6, the Jaguar XF and the Volvo S90.
