One of the highly anticipated Kannada movies, Kaatera, featuring Darshan in a lead role, was released on December 29, 2023, and has made a significant impact at the box office. The film has garnered positive responses from both audiences and critics alike. However, amid the celebrations, legal troubles arose for the actor-producer duo, Darshan and Rockline Venkatesh, along with other stars who attended the success party at Jetlag Pub. Recent reports indicate that the pub’s license has now been cancelled for 25 days.
Following a night of revelry, the police initiated an investigation into the activities at Jetlag Pub in Bengaluru. Notices were issued to eight individuals, including Darshan and Rockline Venkatesh, who were subsequently interrogated at the police station.
The cancellation of Jetlag Pub’s license is a result of the alleged violation of permissible hours for serving alcohol. The Bengaluru City Collector issued an order specifying the 25-day license suspension, during which the pub will be prohibited from selling liquor. Additionally, the authorities have warned that if such violations occur three times, the pub’s license may face permanent cancellation.
The incident occurred during the success party of Kaatera, held at Jetlag Pub, where the film’s cast, crew, and various celebrities gathered to celebrate. Legal notices were served to them by the police as they continued the festivities past the 1 am deadline. Actor Darshan, along with celebrities like Abhishek Ambareesh, Dolly Dhananjay, Chikkanna, and Rockline Venkatesh, were interrogated in connection with the case. An FIR was also filed against the owners of Jetlag Pub.
The investigation is being led by Subramanya Nagar Police Station’s Inspector Suresh, Srirampuram Inspector Balakrishna, and Malleswaram Inspector Jagdish. Darshan, who had to appear at the police station for questioning, faced the support of his fans, leading to the police dispersing the crowd.
Kaatera, directed by Tharun Sudhir and featuring actors like Aradhana Ram, Kumar Govind, Vijanath Biradar, and Jagapathi Babu, has received widespread acclaim. Despite the legal issues arising from the success party, the film continues to enjoy tremendous success at the box office.
