The 69th National Film Awards ceremony, held on October 17, saw Rakshit Shetty’s 777 Charlie winning the prestigious Best Feature Film in Kannada award. President Droupadi Murmu conferred the awards to the deserving recipients. Rakshit Shetty, representing the film’s team, was honoured to accept the National Film Award. He looked stylish for the occasion in a black shirt, grey pants, and a black coat. Director Kiranraj K also received recognition from the President during the ceremony. Expressing his pride, Rishab Shetty took to X (formerly known as Twitter) in Kannada to laud producer Rakshit Shetty and director Kiranraj K for their exceptional work on 777 Charlie, which had previously secured the coveted Silver Lotus award for Best Kannada Movie.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar also congratulated the actor for the big win. He wrote in Kannada which translates to, “At the 69th National Film Awards held in the capital Delhi today, the team of Charlie 777 who won the best Kannada film category and the documentary team of Bale Bangara won the award in the non-feature film category. I wish the Kannada film industry to grow to greater heights.”

Speaking about 777 Charlie, the film is based on an emotional relationship between a lonely man, essayed by Rakshit Shetty and his four-legged companion Charlie. The heart-aching story won the hearts of critics and audiences across the nation.

The film also features Sangeetha Sringeri, Raj Shetty, Bobby Simha, Danish Sait and Abhijit Mahesh in crucial roles. The film was produced by Rakshit Shetty under his home banner Paramavah Studios.

The National Film Award winners were announced on August 24 in Delhi by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to honour the best films and artists. Allu Arjun bagged the Best Actor award for the film Pushpa: The Rise, Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon have shared the award for Best Actress for the films Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mimi, respectively. R Madhavan who made his directorial debut with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect won the Best Feature Film for the year. Waheeda Rehman was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 69th National Awards.
