Bengaluru auto drivers have been dominating the news for quite some time. Not long ago, a city’s auto driver had gone viral for accepting UPI payments via a QR code on his smartwatch. After that, a city commuter shared a video of an auto driver shedding tears due to his modest earnings, which were affected by free bus rides introduced by the Karnataka government. Now, yet another story has emerged from the city and this one is awe-inspiring. 50-year-old Bhaskar, an auto driver by profession, is a testament to the saying that new beginnings can be experienced at any point in life.
Bhaskar has just resumed his education after a long gap of 37 years. He started an inspiring journey this year when he decided to take the Pre-University Course (PUC) exams. A Twitter user posted Bhaskar’s story along with a picture. Bhaskar had completed his 10th board test in 1985, according to the user; but he was unable to continue his education further. She added that Bhaskar is the father of two children, who are in third and sixth grades.
"Introducing Baskar ji, my @Olacabs auto companion today. He faced his English paper today, he is writing PUC exams this year after cleaning 10th in 1985. Bhaskar has already appeared for the English paper for the PUC exams. The auto driver has said that he is not pursuing his education because he wants a better job or to change his career; rather, he thinks education is for personal growth as well. After returning home from working as an auto driver all day long, he studies till late at night.
Baskar’s inspiring tale went viral all over the internet. Netizens shared their perspectives and admiration. Some even offered financial aid to him to complete his education, inquiring about his contact details from the user. Some users, who got busy earning a living and could not pursue their higher education themselves, said that they were inspired by Bhaskar.
