The success of his latest film Kushi has left Vijay Deverakonda happy and emotional, especially since he was still reeling from the huge debacle in the form of Liger that was released last year. He was so elated that he announced a surprise for his fans and followers as a token of gratitude for the love they bestowed upon Kushi. It was earlier reported that Deverakonda pledged to donate Rs 1 crore to 100 needy families to help them pay their bills and make ends meet.
But now it seems that Vjay’s intention to give away money to his fans might not have gone down well with producer-turned-distributor Abhishek Nama. Reportedly, he is still waiting to be reimbursed for the losses incurred from the 2020 unsuccessful film World Famous Lover. As soon as Vijay gave out the statement, Abhishek tweeted saying that exhibitors and distributors incurred losses close to Rs 8 crore due to the failure of World Famous Lover. He requested Vijay to help the distributors and their families as well, now that he was donating money to his fans.
Dear @TheDeverakonda ,We lost 8 crs in the distribution of #WorldFamousLover, but no one responded over it!!Now as you are donating 1CR to the families with your big heart, Kindly requesting & Hoping for you to save us and our Exhibitors & Distributors families also ????❤️… pic.twitter.com/dwFHytv1QJ

While his tweet has received mixed responses from people with some saying that it was not apt for him to be a spoilsport on a happy occasion, Abhishek Nama has cleared the air in an interview with Deccan Chronicle. He said that he was not demanding money from Vijay Deverakonda but in fact, wanted him to do a film for them as they had lost 80 per cent of their money in distributing World Famous Lover.
Abhishek added that Vijay had not responded in the last three years. He revealed that it bothered him that the Liger actor was giving away Rs 1 crore to his fans as he already had certain obligations pending in the industry.
He even claimed that when he had gone to offer Vijay a film after World Famous Lover, he was told that Vijay was now a pan-India star and would only work with the best Bollywood directors.
