Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna is celebrating his 49th birthday today, March 28. The actor started his career in Bollywood when he was 18 years old. Over the years, he was a part of several hit films like Dil Chahta Hai and Border, both of which are pivotal films in Hindi cinema’s history. Another pivotal film he was a part of was RK Studio’s Aa Ab Laut Chalein. The film marked Rishi Kapoor’s directorial debut and also featured Rajesh Khanna and Aishwarya Rai.
On the occasion of Akshaye’s birthday, his take on working with Rishi Kapoor has resurfaced. During his appearance on Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, Simi asked him about his time in the industry and the pressure of starting out at a young age.
“This was the time I remember Rishi Kapoor had said that Akshaye is such a gifted actor but he has a serious attitude problem,” Simi said and Akshaye retorted saying, “So does he (laughs).” Akshaye said, “Oh yeah, he has a major attitude problem. But he is such a great guy and I loved working with him, the whole family, they are such wonderful people.”
Aa Ab Laut Chalen was the last film made under the banner of RK Films and is the only film directed by Rishi Kapoor. It did not perform well at the box office. However, over the years, Rishi and Akshaye reconciled their differences and Akshaye even praised the late veteran actor’s performances in films like Kapoor and Sons and Agneepath.
Meanwhile, Abbas-Mustan’s 2002 film Humraaz featuring Bobby Deol, Akshaye Khanna and Amisha Patel is likely to get a sequel, as per reports. The film was inspired by the Hollywood film A Perfect Murder and it grossed around Rs. 29.7 crores as opposed to the collective budget of Rs 15 crores. Akshaye Khanna had won the IIFA Awards under the ‘Best Villain’ category.
