Jet to include Airbus 330 in fleet

New Delhi: Jet Airways is inducting state-of-the-art Airbus A 330-200 aircraft into its fleet.

The first of its kind to be operated in India, the inclusion of the A330 will increase Jet's fleet size to 55.

Powered by two Rolls Royce Trent 772B engines, the A330 aircraft can carry 226 passengers with a maximum take-off weight of 233 tons.

It is also equipped with the Less Paper Cockpit (LPC) making Jet Airways the first operator in India to have approval to use the LPC concept.

Configured with 30 premiere class seats and 196 economy class seats, the interior of the aircraft is designed to give Jet Airways’ passengers a feel of spaciousness.

The premiere class flat bed seats of the A330 aircraft are pitched at 82 inches, thereby giving the passenger uncompromised comfort and luxury.

The In-Flight-Entertainment (IFE) of the A330-200 is akin to that of the A340-300E aircraft and is equipped with the highly advanced Panasonic 3000i IFE.

This allows passengers to have ‘on-demand’ digital audio and video.

Single and multi-player interactive games especially programmed for passengers will display on high resolution arm LCD screens for sharper, brighter images for the premiere class as well as seatback LCD screens for economy.

Additionally, similarities of cockpit design between the A340 and the A330 aircraft means that Jet Airways will be able to deploy these aircraft in the minimal possible time.

The maiden commercial flight of this A330-200 Aircraft will be on June 13, 2006 and will thereafter operate three times per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from Delhi to London, Heathrow.

On the other four days of the week, this route will be served by the A340-300E aircraft.

Deployment of this new aircraft on the Delhi/London route will enable Jet Airways to operate a daily second frequency between Mumbai and London Heathrow effective July 10, 2006 using the A340-300E aircraft.

Jet Airways has one of the youngest aircraft fleet in the world and operates over 320 daily flights to 48 destinations that span the length and breadth of India and beyond including London Heathrow in the UK, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Colombo in Sri Lanka and Kathmandu in Nepal.
