New Delhi: The UPA Government is receiving criticism from the opposition parties as well as CPI-(M) for unabated inflation and price rise plaguing the economy.
Enraged left parties have bluntly told Finance Minister P Chidambaram that the “time is running out” and that he should take steps to check price rise on a war footing.
In a discussion in Lok Sabha on the Union Budget for 2007-08, a Congress member said that massive funds pouring into UPA’s ambitious NREG programme were "going down the drains".
"The government lacked political will to mobilise additional resources in this budget to meet commitments enshrined in the National Commom Minimum Programme (NCMP), Mohammad Salim (CPI-M) was quoted by PTI.
Pointing out that the number of billionaires was rising in India, he said the government should be ashamed of the fact that thousands of farmers were committing suicide and women and children were dying due to malnutrition.
