Operation Java actress Mamitha Baiju grabbed the headlines because of an interview regarding the Tamil director Bala under whom she was to make her Tamil debut. She, however, was replaced as part of the casting reshuffle by the makers. A part of the interview has gone viral in which Mamitha recounted that she was able to perform a specific scene in three trials only after getting a whack from the director. This led to rumours that she was mistreated by him.
Now, Mamitha has clarified that Bala had always treated her with respect, and what she implied by mentioning whack was a pat by the director. She talked about this in an Instagram Story. Mamitha wrote that the news regarding her involvement in a Tamil film is completely baseless. She wrote that an excerpt had been taken from an interview to create an irresponsible headline.
Mamitha added that Bala had been kind enough to help her become a better actor. “I would like to reiterate that I have not experienced any mental or physical harm or any other sort of abusive behaviour during my work on that film. I opted out of that film later on, only because of other professional commitments." She thanked the media houses who had contacted her to verify the news before publishing it.
Mamitha was to make her much-awaited Tamil debut film Vanangaan directed by Bala which couldn’t materialise. She was replaced due to a casting reshuffle by the makers.
Even though Mamitha Baiju has issued a clarification regarding not being mistreated by Bala, still there are reports that he mistreats his crew on the sets. Even Suriya, one of the most prominent Tamil actors, left Vanangaan after he reportedly had a fallout with Bala on these issues.
V House Productions unveiled a teaser of the Vanangaan on February 19. The teaser had become a hit with the audience and had garnered more than 80 lakh views.
Vanangaan is currently in the post-production stage and is expected to release this year. B Studios and V House Productions have produced this film. Vairamuthu has penned the lyrics for this film while R B Gurudev is the director of photography.
