Vaishakh Amavasya occurs in the month of Vaishakh. In the Gregorian Calendar, it occurs in April or May. This time is considered to be very important for many religious reasons. In the Hindu religion, people worship their ancestors on this day. Auspicious functions like marriage, engagement and mundan are not done on this day as the moon remains in its waning phase. Other religious activities such as bathing in the holy Ganga, Pitri Puja, Pitri Tarpan, Pind Daan, and feeding the Brahmins are performed on this day.
Vaishakh Amavasya is on May 7 this year. It will start from 11.40 am on Tuesday. The Amavasya will end at 8.15 am on May 8. According to the Udayatithi, this Amavasya will be on Wednesday, May 8. On this day, getting rid of Pitra Dosh is possible. One can provide salvation to the ancestors as well. Two of the easiest ways of getting rid of Pitra Dosh are, listening to Bhagwat Katha and worshipping Narayana.
One can easily get rid of their Pitra dosh by listening to Bhagwat Katha on Vaishakh Amavasya. Believers in the Hindu religion often organise Bhagwat Katha or Gita Path at their homes to attract good energy to the house and get rid of bad energy or ghosts. One can attain salvation from ancestors and ghosts by listening to the Bhagwat Katha.
It is believed that listening to Shrimad Bhagwat Katha during Pitri Paksha is more effective.
The other way of getting rid of Pitri Dosh is worshipping Narayana. According to Hindu religious beliefs, believers get salvation from Pitra Dosh after getting blessings from Lord Vishnu. As per religious beliefs, one gets tormented by the ancestors if they have not attained peace after death. To get rid of this problem, one should worship lord Vishnu or Narayana.
During the Vaishakh Amavasya, believers of the Hindu religion seek the guidance of their ancestors and take blessings. This time of the year is best for purifying one’s physical, spiritual, and mental being. People often donate clothes and other items to bring good energy to their lives.
