Nowadays, the trend of photoshoots to make any event memorable is on the rise. This includes shoots for birthdays, newborn babies, pre-wedding shoots or even post-divorce photoshoots. People who want to capture their moments often travel to places like mountains, valleys, beaches or even starry locations. Recently, the film city in Coimbatore has started inviting people for photoshoots in their vicinity. The film city has been developed in a 2-acre area of coconut grove in the Vlangurichi area.

This attempt helps save a lot of money for couples who plan to have a small-budget wedding. The photoshoot can take place in different spots as the film city has more than 120 types of different sets for the pre-wedding shoots, sets for kids and family hangout spots, beaches, vintage cars and scooters along with boat rides.

It is open every day from 6 am to 8 pm. The cost of conducting the shoot starts from Rs 1,500 and may exceed depending upon the time spent on the shoot and the set the couple is using.

Last year in August, the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) opened its doors for shooting movies and TV serials as part of its revenue-boosting measures. A proposal to boost revenue by allowing the shooting of films and series was passed by the council meeting on July 30, 2022.

As per the plan, the per day shoot fixed at Rs 75,000 to Rs 2,00,000 should be pledged as a deposit for the films while 50 per cent of the total amount should be paid for shooting the TV series at the smart city locations.

As part of the Smart City scheme, Coimbatore transformed several locations, including lakes like Periyakulam and Valankulam, racecourse model roads, RS Puram’s multi-level car parking, and more, into film-friendly spaces with parks, gardens, and cycling paths.
