Mysskin Backs Debutante Director Meera Mahathy At Double Tuckerr Music Launch

Many newcomers in Tamil cinema have faced significant struggles in their early careers, enduring hardships and humiliations that are often kept private. Some have bravely shared their challenges, while others have silently endured. In this situation, Meera Mahathi is making his debut in Tamil cinema as a director with Double Tuckerr.

Instead of serving as an assistant director, Meera Mahathi has established himself as a director through his short films. Recently, the music launch of Double Tuckerr took place, during which Mahathi spoke about the difficulties he encountered and the support he received.

Director and actor Mysskin also attended the event and consoled Meera Mahathi. He explained that he cancelled his shooting schedule to attend the event because of his admiration for Dheeraj. Mysskin expressed his fondness for Dheeraj by highlighting his admirable qualities, mentioning that Dheeraj has saved around 500 lives as a cardiologist.

“I directed this film based on my experience directing short films, without having worked as an assistant director for anyone. Many friends who saw my short films encouraged me to direct Double Tuckerr. When I decided to direct the film, I approached actors to narrate the story. Unfortunately, I cannot approach top stars like Vijay and Ajith. I aimed to tell the story to emerging heroes, but none of them showed me even the slightest respect. I didn’t receive the basic respect of being treated like a fellow human being from them”, Meera Mahathi shared at the event.

“I only requested five minutes from them, but they were not willing to spare even that. It was only after Mime Gopi introduced Sir Dheeraj that I had the opportunity to pitch the story. Dheeraj asked if I could impress him in just five minutes. However, when I began narrating the story, an hour had passed by the time I finished. Initially, this film started as a small project”, he added.

Meera Mahathi also shared “During the narration, I had already visualised upcoming animation sequences in my mind. After hearing the story, Dheeraj sir praised it as outstanding and insisted on scaling it up significantly. As a result, the budget increased eightfold. Additionally, the involvement of supporting actors like Kovai Sarala and MS Bhaskar further expanded the film’s budget”.
