Paruthiveeran Row: Sasikumar Lashes Out At Gnanavel Raja's Apology, Calls It ‘False Regret'
Sasikumar has called this apology fake and insincere in a new statement.

Prominent personalities from the Tamil film industry are extending their support to director Ameer, over the ongoing Paruthiveeran row. According to latest reports, filmmaker-actor Sasikumar has released a statement questioning Gnanavel Raja’s recent comments, and expressing his support to Ameer. Gnanavel Raja had issued an apology to Ameer recently. In his apology, he wrote that Ameer’s accusations towards him have been a cause of hurt for him, and that he apologises for his previous statements on Ameer. Now, Sasikumar has called this apology fake and insincere in a new statement.

Sasikumar has worked with Ameer as an assistant director, and was one of the investors in the film Paruthiveeran. He criticised Gnanavel Raja’s apology, and called it fake. He released a statement in Tamil questioning Gnanavel Raja. He wrote, “Truth cannot be sacrificed for false regret,” and then he questioned, “What are the charges levelled against Ameer, Gnanavel Raja? Gnanavel Raja says that if some of the words he has used are offensive, then what are those few words?” He continued, “What a pity to deliberately humiliate someone and the one who insulted feeling sorry for himself.” Then questioned again what exactly is Gnanavel Raja trying to say, and who he addressed the letter to. Sasikumar posted this statement on his X account.

The dispute started when the director of Paruthiveeran, Ameer, filed a case against producer Gnanavel Raja and the film’s actors Karthi, Suriya and their father Shivakumar. Paruthiveeran released 15 years ago, and ever since then, there has been an issue between the director and the producer. Ameer alleges in the lawsuit that even though Gnanavel Raja is credited as the producer, he stopped funding the film halfway. So, Ameer had to spend his own money on the film, and now seeks proper compensation and the film’s rights. According to more claims, the film’s Telugu version was released without Ameer’s permission, and he was not given any compensation from its profit.
