Kolkata Knight Riders managed to post another big total of 222 runs for the loss of 4 wickets against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens on Sunday in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League.

KKR middle order batter Ramandeep Singh produced an explosive innings of 24 off just 9 deliveries to take his side past the 200-run mark.

The 27-year-old shed light on the manner in which he prepares ahead of the game and credited Abhishek Nayar for the same.

“All credit to Abhishek Nayar, he prepares us this way and all our net sessions resemble a match,” the batter said.

He added that he was looking to go on the offensive right from the get go, as he did, and that it was challenging dealing when the pace was taken off the ball on the day.

“I just wanted to whack the ball, luckily it was my day,” the 27-year-old said.

“Slow bumpers were not easy to hit, that’s what we will do. 222 is a really good score on this pitch, pace on the ball is easy to hit,” he continued.

The batter also expressed he was excited to witness Windies legend Sunil Naraine weave his magic at the Eden Gardens with the ball in his hand, given the challenging nature of the conditions.

“We’ve got a legend in the side in Narine and we will want to watch the legend on show today,” he signed off.

RCB won the toss and decided to put KKR to bat first as the hosts got off to an explosive start with opener Phil Salt taking the visiting bowlers to the cleaners early in the game to give his side a bright start.

The Englishman put up 48 runs off just 14 deliveries before being sent back to the hut by Mohammed Siraj. KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer top-scored for his side with a calculated half-century as he added 50 off 36 deliveries. Rinku Sngh chipped in with 24 runs off 16 balls before Andre Russell and Ramandeep finished off with a flurry as they helped their side put up the big total.
