BCCI Consider Fee Hike for Players Who 'Play All Test Series in a Calendar Year'
BCCI will reportedly pay additional bonus to players who play all Test series in a year.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking to increase match fees for players playing Test matches in order to emphasise the significance of the longest format of the game.

According to an Indian Express report, BCCI has decided to revise the salary of Team India players after reports of players ignoring directives to play domestic cricket and preparing for the Indian Premier League (IPL) on their own.

The report adds that there will be an additional bonus will be paid to players who play all Test series in a year and it is proposed to come into effect after the end of the current IPL season.

“For example, if someone plays all Test series in a calendar year, he should be rewarded additionally, apart from the annual retainer contract. This is to ensure that players turn out for more red-ball cricket. This would be an additional perk for playing Test cricket,” a BCCI source told Indian Express.

Currently, the BCCI pays 15 lakh INR as match fees for each Test, six lakh INR for ODIs and three lakh INR for T20 internationals.

Earlier, the BCCI secretary Jay Shah had warned the centrally-contracted and India ‘A’ cricketers over non-participation in domestic cricket, citing that a move like that from them to prioritise IPL over domestic cricket, would have severe implications.
