IPL 2024 Qualifier 1, KKR vs SRH: Mitchell Starc Clean Bowls Travis Head for a Duck | WATCH

Mitchell Starc bowled a ‘peach of a delivery’ to disturb Travis Head’s stumps and send him back to the dugout for a duck as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

On the second ball of the match, after SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first against Shreyas Iyer’s KKR, Starc bowled Head. The Aussie southpaw got out for a second consecutive duck as Arshdeep Singh had dismissed him in a similar manner in SRH’s last league game against Punjab Kings.

Starc won the battle of the Aussies as he attacked the stumps. He bowled it on off and middle as Head cleared his front leg, and even crouched a bit, as he shaped up to thrash it down the ground. He did not move his feet much and extended his arms to go through the shot. The ball tailed back in a touch and snuck past the inside edge to rattle into the stumps.

Head, along with his opening partner Abhishek Sharma, has scored runs at a strike rate exceeding 200 while inspiring their side to rewrite a few records. Head has in many ways redefined aggressiveness with the bat while also remaining successful, scoring 533 runs with one century and four fifties. On Tuesday though, he couldn’t add a single run to his total.

Abhishek’s stay was not too long at the creae as Vaibhav Arora produced a moment of madness and magic for KKR, with the aide of the enigmatic Andre Russell.

The winner of the encounter will directly qualify for the title clash while the loser will get another chance to play the final, as they will meet the winners of the Eliminator between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 2 in Chennai on Friday.
