Ravindra Jadeja joked that both Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina got the special names from by the fans and he is yet to be named.

Ravindra Jadeja had a stellar return to Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, also known as the Chepauk, as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash on Monday.

Jadeja started the game by taking a stunning catch to send back Phil Salt off the first ball. He then got the ball in hand, after the powerplay, and ended the 56-run stand between Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Sunil Narine and went on to also dismiss Venkatesh Iyer soon after. He also took the catch of Shreyas Iyer to reach the milestone of 100 IPL catches.

At the end of the match, Jadeja was adjudged the Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling and fielding performance.

He also became the first player ever in the IPL to score at least 1000 runs, take 100 wickets and take 100 catches.

When asked about the feat, Jadeja said that he didn’t know about that record and joked that both Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina got the special names from by the fans and he is yet to be named.

“My title hasn’t yet been verified, hopefully they’ll give me one,” Jadeja said.

MS Dhoni is addressed by the fans a ‘Thala’ and Raina is known as ‘Chinna Thala’ and with Jadeja, make up CSK’s longest-serving players.

Taking about the game, Jadeja went on to say that he enjoys playing at Chennai a lot, adding that he was using seam-up deliveries

“I always enjoy my bowling on this track. I was hoping the ball grips a little, if you bowl in the right areas with helps you,” Jadeja said.

He also mentioned that for any visiting team, it will take time to settle and for them and it is a bit difficult as CSK know the home conditions really well.

“For visiting teams it takes time to settle in and plan, you hardly get 2-3 days, for a visiting team to come here, play and identify the surface is little difficult. We know our conditions better,” he said.
