IPL 2024: Sam Curran Says 'Any Team That Can Get Momentum at the Back-end is Dangerous' After PBKS Beat CSK
Sam Curran was a happy captain after Punjab Kings defeated Chennai Super Kings, saying that win will give them a lot m,ore comfidence.

Sam Curran said winning at Chepauk will fill his side with confidence after Punjab Kings (PBKS) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday.

Punjab rode on quick 40s by Jonny Bairstow (46, 30b, 7×4, 1×6) and Rilee Rossouw (43, 23b, 5×4, 2×6), as the English and South African duo put on 64 runs for the second wicket to set up the chase and help got past Chennai’s modest 162/7, which was built around skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad’s solid 62 (48b, 5×4, 2×6).

The win took PBKS to seventh place on the points table with eight points, while CSK stayed in fourth spot with 10 points.

Punjab are the second team to defeat Chennai in five successive IPL matches. Mumbai Indians won five in a row against Chennai between 2018 and 2019, becoming only the second side after Mumbai Indians to do so.

“Anytime you come to Chennai and get two points, it is a huge feeling. Last year also we lost all our home games and won the away games,” Sam Curran said at the post-match presentation.

“We are getting a hint of the formulas. Any team that can get momentum at the back-end is dangerous. We are quietly confident that we are coming up against them in a couple of days’ time,” he added.

When asked about playing CSK again on Sunday at home, Curran said he and his side will go into that game with renewed confidence.

“We start 1-0 on them in a way. It is a new game, new conditions but this win will give us a lot of confidence. We had a tough early part. Trevs (Trevor Bayliss) is big on enjoying the win. Taking a lot of confidence. Winning helps with confidence,” Curran said.
