Mumbai Indians won the toss and skipper Hardik Pandya opted to bowl first as the hosts got off to a good start with seamer Nuwan Thushara scalping Devdutt Padikkal for a duck early in the innings.

LSG found runs hard to come by in the initial phase of the innings as Marcus Stoinis and Deepak Hooda were removed for 28 and 11 runs respectively by Piyush Chawla.

However, Windies maverick Nicholas Pooran came out to bat and took on the MI bowlers with his whirlwind 29-ball-75-run knock that included five 4s and eight 6s.

KL Rahul’s measured 55-run contribution and Ayush Badoni’s quickfire 22-run knock helped Lucknow put up a total of 214 runs for the loss of 6 wickets at the end of 20 overs as Thushara and Chawla finished with a three-fer each.

Mumbai got the chase off to a bright start as Rohti and Dewald Brevis opened the innings before rain halted play briefly. But, the Indian skipper did not let the pause drain his momentum and went on to notch up his half-century as play resumed.

The 37-year-old brought up his milestone score with a brilliant six over the top to send the Wankhede into a state of delirium.

Rohit, who added 68 runs on the day, was sent back to the hut by Ravi Bishnoi after MI lost the wickets of Brevis and Suryakumar Yadav in quick succession.
