India batter Sai Sudharsan on Friday notched up his maiden County Championship hundred for Surrey. Batting against Nottinghamshire, the Tamil Nadu batter smashed 105 runs off 178 deliveries with the help of 10 boundaries and a six. Batting at No.6, Sudharshan’s remarkable knock took Surrey to a mammoth score of 525 runs in the first innings.
Sudharshan notched up the triple figures with a dashing shot that went for a six. It was the 151st over when spinner Farhan returned into the attack. He shimmied down the ground and smashed Ahmed’s fuller delivery for a maximum over long-on.

The ongoing game against Nottinghamshire is Sudharsan’s second County Championship appearance for Surrey before he flies back home to participate in the Duleep Trophy which will begin on September 5. He has been named in Team C which will be captained by Maharashtra batter Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Captain Rory Burns top-scored for Surrey with 161 off 266 balls, laced with 11 fours and four sixes. Ryan Patel scored 77, Will Jacks scored 59 while Jordan Clark contributed with a 53-run knock. Farhan Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers for Nottinghamshire, returning 7 for 140.
Surrey are currently on top of the Division One chart and are eyeing their third County title in a row. The left-handed batter featured in Surrey’s last Championship match with Essex at the Oval in June as well as appearing twice for Surrey in September 2023.
The 22-year-old batter also made his ODI debut for India, impressing with two fifties in three innings against South Africa earlier this year. Sudharsan had a strong IPL 2024 for the Gujarat Titans, scoring his first century in the competition and making over 500 runs.
