UPW vs MI, WPL 2024 Highlights and Scorecard: The Mumbai Indians are now at second in the points table following their 42-run victory over the UP Warriorz.

UPW vs MI Highlights and Scorecard:

The Mumbai Indians had a dominant show with the ball as they managed to clean up the UP Warriorz batting unit with such ease. Saika Ishaque chipped in with the wicket in her first over to get rid of Kiran Navgire.

The rest of the top order also crumbled as they were unable to put much of a fight. The side now will be second in the points table following their win by 42 runs.

MI put up a total of 160 runs for the loss of 6 wickets as Nat Sciver-Brunt top-scored for the holders with 45 runs against the UP Warriorz.

Amelia Kerr’s 39 proved incredibly useful, while skipper Harmanpreet Kaur added 33 runs off her bat. S Sanjana’s quickfire 22 runs contribution ensured that MI would finish strong following a slow start to the innings.

Mumbai Indians skipper Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and opted to bat first against UP Warriorz as the holders lost their openers Hayley Matthews and Yatika Bhatia to Chamari Athapaththu early in the game.

Both UP Warriorz and Mumbai Indians will be looking to make a quick turnaround following their losses in their respective fixtures in the previous game.

With the tournament now taking place in Delhi, Harmanpreet Kaur’s side will have the added advantage of having played in the Arun Jaitley Stadium in their previous game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Despite the loss, the side will look to make use of their familiarity in conditions to take down the side lead by Alyssa Healy.

The Warriorz skipper, Healy has been in good touch with the bat and will be expected to continue leading the run-scoring department. However, the spotlight will be on the Sri Lankan, Chamari Athapaththu who is yet to deliver for the side. Grace Harris has also been in fine touch with the bat and will look to continue her form.

Harmanpreet will be looking to get back among the runs for the side. But the top-order will look to improve on their previous performances.

Delhi has provided a good batting track and will be expected to continue the same way.

Sophie Ecclestone will be a key player in the fixture for the UP Warriorz as the spinners seem to have been the main wicket-takers in this region. For Mumbai, the onus will be on Saika Ishaque who did not have a good outing with the ball to come good for her side once again.

It is expected that the side that wins the toss will look to bat first as the previous two fixtures has seen the side batting first score big and go on to defend their respective totals.
