'Want to Stay in Present, There is no Expectation': Prithvi Shaw Focused on Winning Ranji Trophy For Mumbai
On his second game after return, Shaw displayed his class and played a scintillating 159-run knock-off 185 balls which was laced with 18 fours and three sixes.

Prithvi Shaw asserted that he has no expectation regarding making a comeback in the Indian team as his primary focus at the moment is helping Mumbai win the Ranji Trophy title. The Mumbaikar recently made a comeback in competitive cricket after recovering from a knee injury that he sustained last year during his county stint with Northamptonshire.

On his second game after return, Shaw displayed his class and played a scintillating 159-run knock-off 185 balls which was laced with 18 fours and three sixes.

Meanwhile, before his brilliant knock, Shaw said that he wants to live in present and give his best for the Mumbai team in the Ranji Trophy.

“I’m not thinking too far off and want to stay in the present. There is no expectation, I’m happy that I’m back playing cricket. I have just come back after injury and just want to give my best. My aim is to win the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai and I’m trying to achieve that by contributing as much as I can going ahead,” Prithvi Shaw said in an interview with The Indian Express.

Due to a knee injury, Shaw missed two white-ball domestic tournaments – the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Before getting injured, he had mixed results with the bat.

The 24-year-old last played for India way back in July 2021 as since then he has been trying hard to make a comeback in the side with his consistent performances in domestic cricket.

“I wanted to do well but somewhere I wondered whether I would be able to bat in my style or not. Kaise kheloonga (how will I play), when I would make a comeback and whether it will be on a good note or not. These were the thoughts which were going around. But after I stayed for a few hours, things became normal,” Shaw added.

The last few months were tough for Shaw as he underwent surgery and went through a rehabilitation process to get back on the field

“I wasn’t nervous but the feeling was a bit ajeeb (strange) when I resumed my batting. However, I did a match simulation and was motivating myself that everything will be fine. My body language was fine,” he added.
