Sam Curran, who is considered one of the finest all-rounders in T20 cricket, has joined the Punjab Kings camp ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. England had won the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia on the back of Curran’s crucial performances. Punjab Kings had acquired the services of Curran for an amount of Rs 18.50 crore.

Punjab Kings shared a video of Curran arriving in style and speaking Punjabi on Instagram. The 25-year-old was heard saying in the video, “Sadda Punjab, Sadda Pind, sher squad…. nikale currant” in the video. The franchise had written, “Sher squad diyan nazran vich Curran,” in the caption.

Curran became the most expensive player in the history of the IPL in 2023. Australia pace duo of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins surpassed Curran at the IPL 2024 auction on the list of most expensive players in the history of IPL.

Last year at the IPL, Curran bowled at an economy rate of 10.22, despite taking 10 wickets. Curran did perform decently with the bat as he had scored 276 runs last season but as far as him being an all-rounder is concerned, he had quite a disappointing season last time. Overall, Curran has 42 wickets under his belt having played 46 IPL matches.

In SA20 as well Curran failed to impress everyone while playing for MI Cape Town as he bowled at an economy rate of 10.03. He struggled with his line and length in the T20I series against the West Indies and conceded runs at an economy rate of 11.91.

Punjab Kings will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign with a match against Delhi Capitals scheduled to be played on March 23. Punjab Kings co-owner Preity G Zinta and skipper Shikhar Dhawan recently revealed the new colours and the brand new design of the jersey. Other members of the team, along with the coaching staff, also turned up for the event.
