Defending 107 runs with three sessions left is never easy unless the bowling side goes for the kill. Team India had the same approach when the rain subsided on Sunday and they took the field against New Zealand at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The visitors resumed their innings on the fifth day and lost their skipper, Tom Latham, without adding anything to their scoreboard.
It was just the start India needed to defend a low total. Bumrah rushed in at full throttle to bowl a length delivery which came in sharply to strike Latham on the knee roll after beating the inside edge. The Indians were charged up and so were the fans as umpire Michael Gough didn’t hesitate to raise his finger.

New Zealand have won just two Tests in India in 36 outings: in 1969 at Nagpur and in 1988 at Mumbai. Play began an hour late at 10:15 am local time (04:45 GMT) and intermittent rain was forecast throughout the day.
New Zealand dismissed India for 462 in their second innings.
India were bowled out for 46 having won the toss and opted to bat after the opening day’s play was washed out without a ball being bowled. New Zealand replied with 402 in their first innings. The second Test begins on 24 October in Pune, with the third starting on 1 November in Mumbai.
