Watch: Naveen-ul-Haq Pulls Off Stunning Catch Against Joburg Super Kings in SA20
Naveen-ul-Haq pulled off a mind-boggling catch.

The SA20 second Qualifier between Durban’s Super Giants and Joburg Super Kings witnessed Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq pull off a mind-boggling catch. With a massive target of 212 ahead of them, Super Kings’ Leus du Plooy opened the chase for his side. While facing a delivery bowled by Reece Topley in the third over of the run chase, Plooy hit the ball towards Naveen, who was placed at the mid-on region. The speedster eyed the ball perfectly as he jumped high to pluck the ball mid-air using both his hands. Naveen did not let go of the ball as he came crashing down to the pitch to complete an absolute screamer. Naveen’s fielding genius was enough to send Plooy back to the dressing room having scored 10 runs in seven balls. The entire sequence was uploaded on social media platform X, formerly Twitter. “Naveen-Ul-Haq you absolute beauty,” read the caption of the post.

The second Qualifier began with the Joburg Super Kings winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. Things did not go as planned as the duo of Heinrich Klaasen and Wiaan Mulder wreaked havoc in the first innings. Klassen scored 74 runs facing 30 balls while Mulder played a supporting knock of an unbeaten fifty, guiding Durban’s Super Giants to a mammoth total of 211.

The run chase started with skipper Faf du Plessis and Leus do Ploy opening for the Joburg Super Kings. Before taking the catch of Leus du Plooy, Afghanistan international Naveen-ul-Haq had already dismissed Faf in the second over of the innings. The early scalp proved to be crucial as Super Kings were curbed at only 142 runs. Naveen finished off with two wickets while securing a place for his side in the final of the SA20 2024.

The Durban’s Super Giants finished in second place in the SA20 2024 season, leading to them taking on the Sunrisers Eastern Cape for a berth in the final. But the Eastern Cape proved to be too strong for the Super Giants, winning the match by 51 runs.

Now having won the second Qualifier, Durban’s Super Giants will once again take on the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, this time in the SA20 2024 final. That summit clash is scheduled to be played at the Newlands Cricket Ground on Saturday, February 10.
