Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, who co-owns IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders was reunited with legendary India cricketer Sourav Ganguly at the Eden Gardens on Monday night. Ganguly represented KKR during his career both as captain and a player.

Ganguly was at the Eden Gardens in the capacity of Director of Cricket at Delhi Capitals as the franchise faced KKR in an IPL 2024 match. After the match, as Ganguly was having a chat with KKR allrounder Venkatesh Iyer, Shah Rukh, who was taking a lap of the ground, spotted the legendary captain before hugging him.

The two engaged in a brief chat and a clip of their reunion is going viral on social media.

It was a happy outing for SRK’s KKR as they dominated DC aross departments for an impressive seven-wicket win. After opting to bat first, DC made a promising start before stuttering that saw them lose three wickets inside four overs.

They slumped to 111/8 before no. 9 Kuldeep Yadav (35*) lifted them to a respectable 153/9. For the home team, spinner Varun Chakaravarthy picked up 3/16 from four overs while Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora chipped in with a couple of scalps each.

KKR’s chase was powered by a blazing fifty from opener Phil Salt who smashed 68 off 33, an innings that featured seven fours and five sixes. Sunil Narine (15) and the Rinku Singh, promoted to no.3, fell cheaply but skipper Shreyas Iyer (33*) and Venkatesh (26*) stitched an unbeaten 57-run stand for the fourth wicket as KKR overhauled the target in 16.3 overs.

DC captain Rishabh Pant said they didn’t put enough runs on the board for their bowlers to defend.

“As a batting unit we didn’t bat well, 150 was below par with how things were going. But we learn from our mistakes, every day is not your day. I think anything around 180-210 would have been a good score, we didn’t give our bowlers enough runs to defend,” Pant said after the match.
