West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph was at the receiving end of a searing yorker from Australia pacer Mitchell Starc that hit him right on the toe. The pain was too much to bear for the Windies cricketer and he had to retire hurt.
With that, West Indies, who were nine wickets down on the third day of the ongoing day-night Test against Australia in Brisbane, folded for 193 in their second dig to set their hosts 216 runs to win the contest.
Starc unleashed the toe-crusher in the 73rd over with Joseph batting on 3. An appeal for LBW followed and the umpire gave it as out.

However, West Indies reviewed and replay showed that Starc had overstepped.
The decision was overturned but Starc’s delivery did the job with Joseph unable to continue bringing an end to West Indies’ innings.

The 24-year-old Shamar, a fast bowler himself, made his Test debut in the series opener and made an immediate impact with a five-wicket haul.
West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite had praised the youngster, predicting a ‘bright future’.
“It’s a great start to his international career and he has a bright future for the West Indies. I wasn’t surprised. I really believe he’s something special. And I was very happy for him,” Brathwaite had said.
Earlier, West Indies opted to bat first and recovered from 64/5 to be 311-all out at The Gabba. And then their bowlers reduced Australia to 54/5 but a fighting fifty from Usman Khawaja and quickfire half-centuries from Alex Carey and Pat Cummins helped them recover and post 289/9.
Australia declared despite being 12 runs behind. Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon shared six wickets to limit West Indies to 193 in their second innings.
Australia though lost opener Khawaja early in the chase as he was caught-behind off Alzarri Joseph on 10.
West Indies are hoping to draw level in the two-Test series. They suffered a crushing 10-wicket defeat at the hands of Australia last week in Adelaide.
