'When GT's Playing, Don't Think That, Eh' - Shubman Gill's Epic Reply To 'Leaving it Too Late for a Win' Comment
Shubman Gill came up with an epic response to Harsha Bhogle's query that a few commentators felt that GT had left it too late to push for a win against RR. GT eventually trumped with a four off the final delivery of the match

Gujarat Titans were back to winning ways after a thrilling last-ball finish courtesy of the ice-cool Rashid Khan, who hit Avesh Khan for a boundary of the final ball with GT requiring two runs to win. GT chased down Rajasthan Royal’s total of 196 with three wickets in hand for their third win of the season, while RR endured their first loss.

Shubman Gill set up the chase with a brilliant 44-ball 72 at the top of the order and after a bit of wobble in the middle overs, GT was buoyed by lower-order contributions from Rahul Tewatia (22* off 11) and Khan (24* off 11).

From a healthy 64/0 in the 9th over, GT slumped to 111/4 by the 14th over and were further dented by leg-spinner Yuzverndra Chahal’s double strike and one point it seemed GT had left it too late to push for a win with 35 runs needed off the last two overs.

However, pacer Kuldeep Sen, who had picked up three wickets earlier, was tonked for 20 runs in the 19th over of the match, and then Khan polished off the 15 runs required in the final over bowled by Avesh Khan.

“We were targetting 45 in 3 overs and it is very much gettable and that was the mindset at that time. Mathematically both batters needed to hit 22 off 9 balls and that’s how the thinking goes and if one batter goes berserk that will do,” GT skipper Gill said during the post-match presentation.

However, it was Gill’s reply when commentator Harsha Bhogle mentioned that it felt GT had left it too late to push for a win, and the youngster came up with an epic response.

Bhogle asked, “Well done you got 2 points today. But I must admit some of us thought you left it too late but well done today.” Gill replied, “Thank you, when GT is playing don’t think like that, eh”.

“Very happy with Rahul and Rashid bhai for finishing the job for us. Winning the ball off the last ball is always a great feeling. He (Rashid Khan) is someone who you always want in your team, he is such a competitor” Gill went on to add.
