From Durga Puja to Dussehra, October is full of festivities. As a result, several schools, colleges, and other educational institutions will remain closed across most states for almost a week. This year, Ashtami and Navami will be celebrated on the same day. As a result, it has left many students and parents quite confused about when will schools be closed for Dussehra.
In most of the states of North India including UP, Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, the official holiday for Dussehra will be from October 10 to 12, 2024. After this, October 13 is a Sunday, which means schools will remain closed on that day too. This way, there will be a total of four days of holiday across schools and colleges. Students can enjoy a long weekend from October 10 (Thursday), October 11 (Friday), October 12 (Saturday), and October 13 (Sunday). Furthermore, considering the importance of Durga Puja, a week’s holiday has been declared in some places from October 7 to October 13.
Meanwhile, October has a long list of holidays for schools and colleges alike. Check out the full list of holidays for this month here:
Furthermore, eight holidays are fixed for those schools which have holidays on both Saturday and Sunday. This month, there will be four Saturdays and four Sundays in October. Some schools have a holiday on the second Saturday. If your school is also closed on the second Saturday of the month, then you can enjoy a long weekend on Dussehra. Some schools have a provision of a holiday or half day on the last Saturday of the month.
