Last month, there was a huge debate over the current ruling government changing the name of our country from India to Bharat. While it turned out to be a rumour, actor Akshay Kumar went ahead and changed the tagline of his forthcoming film to ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue,” which released today. Earlier it was titled ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Indian Rescue.”
In an exclusive conversation with News18, Kumar explained the reason of changing the tagline as he said, “Is there anything wrong if we changed it to Bharat? No, right. So just enjoy it.”
When prodded that even India is not wrong, Akshay added, “I agree India is not wrong and is also right. Bharat is a great name and it is in our constitution so we decided to change it.”
The movie based on the life of late mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill, who rescued 65 miners from a flooded coal mine in Raniganj, West Bengal in 1989, has been receiving positive reviews from the critics as well as the audiences.
While the actor who plays Jaswant Gill in the film could not meet the man personally, he recalled the interaction that he had with him before starting the film, “A few years ago when Jaswantji was alive, I had the opportunity to speak to him on the phone. He was so humble, simple, and down to earth that it was genuinely an honour talking to him,” Akshay said adding, “There’s so much truth and sacrifice in the inspiring stories of such unsung heroes that I would like to keep making films like that and tell today’s youth about such great visionaries.”
Talking about the reactions from the Gill family, the actor mentioned, “I saw the film with Gill Saab’s wife and his daughter and they really appreciated our efforts. They have loved the film and are very happy to see this story on the big screen.”
