London: Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur could be dealt the blow of missing out on David Villa, as reports claim that Spanish Champions Barcelona do not want to sell the striker this summer.
The 31-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Nou Camp this season after some struggles with injuries over the last couple of years, but it is believed he is still a valued member of Tito Vilanova's squad.
Arsenal are keen on signing a new striker after last summer's sale of Robin van Persie, while Tottenham are looking to improve on their current pairing of Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor. But according to Barcelona president Sandro Rosell, they will have to look elsewhere, as he says there are no plans to sell the striker this summer.
"Until somebody says the opposite, David Villa will remain a Barcelona player," he said.
