New Delhi: East Bengal’s obsession with ‘sack the coach’ syndrome is likely to continue as the club’s working committee sits for a meeting later on Monday.
Stanley Rosario has guided the club to seventh position with 12 points, 13 adrift from the top spot. In the Federation Cup, the club did put some decent performances but went out in a tie-breaker to their arch rivals Mohun Bagan in the semi-finals.
The Bangalorean was unlucky not to have the full squad at his disposal at any given point of the season so far. Speculation about his future was rife when Subhash Bhowmick resigned from Salgaocar SC as he couldn’t guarantee a place for them in the Federation Cup.
East Bengal General Secretary Kalyan Majumdar had submitted his resignation letter to the president after the semi-final defeat to Mohun Bagan.
Majumdar is known to have problems with Bhowmick and his resignation was just the signal of the latter’s imminent arrival.
Subhash Bhowmick, who was in Shantiniketan, told Goal.com that officials from East Bengal did get in touch with him but nothing had been formalised.
“I did get calls from the officials but nothing has been spoken about.”
