Rustenburg: Fabio Capello's frustrations ahead of England's World Cup opener boiled over on Wednesday with the coach angrily shouting at the media.

The Italian confronted photographers and cameramen before training at the England base in South Africa — ahead of the team's opening Group C game against the United States on Saturday.

"Why do you take photos of the rooms?" Capello shouted. "No excuses."

Capello thought the cameras were focused on the players inside the Rustenburg complex, but the lenses were pointing at the players as they approached the training pitch at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Campus.

It is the first time Capello has been seen so angry in public since taking charge of England, but his players are used to such verbal blasts.

Capello has also been upset with his players over their performances in warmup matches — including the slack display on Monday in a training fixture against local South African side the Platinum Stars.

"He was not pleased," defender John Terry said of Capello's displeasure at halftime. "It was the worst, the angriest, I have seen him ... he had his say at half time in a manner I have not seen before and it was quite understandable. But it sums him up — he is a winner. Even in training he can go like that from nothing."

Capello, though, was boosted on Wednesday by midfielder Shaun Wright-Phillips returning to training after picking up a minor knee injury on Monday.
