FC Goa are set to kick off the new season of the Indian Super League (ISL) with a home game against Jamshedpur FC. The match will be played at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao on September 17. FC Goa finished third in the last ISL season and were three points behind Mohun Bagan Super Giant, who became the champions with 48 points. In the recently concluded Durand Cup, Jamshedpur failed to overcome the league stage. FC Goa also suffered an exit from the group stage of the century-old competition. They accumulated seven points in three matches but finished third in the second-placed teams’ points table.

Jamshedpur FC were unable to make it to the knockout stage of the Durand Cup this year. They finished second in Group D with six points. Meanwhile, FC Goa looked promising to reach the semi-finals as one of the two best second-placed teams. They, however, lost the place to East Bengal as per the goal difference.
