Madrid: Getafe substitute Baba Diawara scored two minutes from time to salvage a 1-1 draw at home against Cordoba in the Spanish league on Friday.
Midfielder Patrick Ekeng scored in the 78th minute to put Cordoba on the verge of their first victory in their first season in the top flight in 42 years.
But left-back Javier Escudero capped his strong showing by using one touch to cross the ball for Diawara to tap in the equaliser.
Getafe almost grabbed the winning goal in stoppage time, when Diawara headed high before Escudero clipped the upright.
"It leaves a bitter taste in our mouth because the goal came at the end," said Cordoba goalkeeper Juan Carlos Corral. "All our hard work, and in one moment it was gone."
Getafe insisted on attacking the right side of Cordoba's defence in the first half when Escudero provided the little danger the hosts could muster.
Cordoba held firm in defence and after striker Nabil Ghilas tested goalkeeper Vicente Guaita, it fell to Ekeng to pounce on a turnover and drill the ball inside the far post.
But Getafe pressed for the equaliser and found it when Escudero met Diawara's run with an excellent service.
Cordoba remained the only winless team in the league. They are level on points with four other teams at the bottom of the table before the other four play this weekend. Getafe moved into a provisional 12th place in the 20-team league.
League leaders Barcelona visit Rayo Vallecano on Saturday, when Valencia host Atletico Madrid with both two points behind Barcelona.
Fourth-place Sevilla host Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday, while fifth-place Real Madrid welcome Athletic Bilbao.
