Seville: Striker Ruben Castro scored late to give Real Betis a 2-1 win over Osasuna on Friday, as the Andalusian side rose to provisional fifth place in the Spanish league. Jorge Molina gave Betis the lead on their rain-soaked home pitch when he headed in Joel Campbell's cross in the 19th minute.

Osasuna made two substitutions at halftime and gained control of the ball, with midfielder Francisco Silva equalizing in the 73rd minute on the break. But Betis coach Pepe Mel sent on Dorlan Pabon in the 78th and a minute later the Colombia forward threaded a perfect through pass for Castro to coolly roll under the goalkeeper.

Castro's 13th goal of the season made him the joint fourth highest scorer in the league through 27 rounds. "We started the season with the goal of assuring our place in the topflight, now that we have achieved that we can be more ambitious," Castro said.

The game's physical play led the referee to handing out nine yellow cards and showing a red to Silva in the 90th when he fouled Molina with only the goalkeeper to beat. Betis remained unbeaten in their last five home games, while Osasuna are five points from the relegation zone.
