Kolkata: FC Pune City's gamble of not playing David Trezeguet paid off and their player of the match Nigerian Dudu says he was really happy to put the team ahead in their 3-1 rout of ISL leaders Atletico de Kolkata.
"Trezeguet is a great player. His absence meant a lot to us but we're happy to win. He's the captain of the team, he has given a message to work really hard. I got the opportunity to start today and I used this to win for the team," Dudu told reporters after their upset win.
The East Bengal recruit Dudu, a veteran of 99 goals in Indian football, used the opportunity to full effect as he gave the lead with a stunning header.
"Now my new team is Pune. This is not East Bengal. I'm here to win and to play for Pune.
"We came here with great determination to win. We came here for winning. At the end we got three points, so that's great.
"My team has been very supportive they tell me to just keep going come what may. And today I scored which was really good. I'm happy about it."
