Siddhant Chaturvedi is known for his acting skills and giving his 100 percent to his projects. The Gully Boy actor reportedly underwent rigorous training for Yudhra that included three martial arts disciples, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu. Chaturvedi played the titular role in Yudhra which included some intense fight scenes. Thanks to his fitness regime, the actor aced those scenes with perfection.
Talking about Siddhant Chaturvedi’s preparation for the role, his training instructor Rohit Nair said, “I didn’t work on the action in Yudhra, but I trained Siddhant because he wanted to be better at action as he had a lot of action requirements in the film. He did regular MMA and jiu-jitsu with me before he went for the action scenes. Everything wasn’t shot in Mumbai, and I couldn’t travel with him, but he trained with me for MMA, kickboxing, and jiu-jitsu while he was here,” as quoted by The Indian Express.
Combining martial arts is becoming popular among fitness enthusiasts and athletes. It is known to provide a deep mind-body connection, fostering mental focus and discipline in life. It is a comprehensive workout that leads to coordination, flexibility, and mental toughness. Let us explore their benefits:
Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA, is a full-contact combat sport that combines striking, grappling, and ground fighting. It dates back to ancient combat traditions like Pankration in ancient Greece and Vale Tudo in Brazil. Check out its benefits below:
- Overall physical fitness as MMA focuses on every muscle group, thus providing fitness for each.
- It improves coordination as each muscle group is engaged, like in high kicks and takedown defense. Thus, this sport also promotes flexibility and agility.
- Enhance self-defence skills by boosting the confidence to take self-responsibility and action.
- It helps in stress relief.
- It helps in weight loss and improves muscle tone and cardiovascular endurance.
Kickboxing is one of the most popular sports and is even featured in most action sequences in cinema. It gained popularity in the 1970s. The stand-up combat mainly focusses on striking, utilising punches, kicks, knees, and elbows for boxing. Check out its benefits below:
- It improves cardiovascular fitness and endurance, as kickboxing training gives an excellent workout.
- Improves coordination and agility between your upper and lower body.
- Enhanced self-defence skills.
- It helps in weight loss and improves muscle tone.
- Stress booster as the physical exertion releases tension.
- Improves reflexes and reaction time.
Jiu-Jitsu is one of the ancient Japanese martial arts. It is a grappling-based martial art that emphasises ground fighting and submissions. Check out the benefits of Jiu-Jitsu:
- The grappling techniques build functional strength and flexibility in the entire body.
- It helps in boosting self-defence skills and mental toughness as the person learns to stay calm under pressure.
- Since Jiu-Jitsu is called “human chess” and requires mind-body connection while strategically planning the next step, it enhances the problem-solving skills.
Although martial arts disciplines have multiple benefits, certain precautions should be taken while practicing them. The top priority is getting a well-trained instructor, whereas other precautions are using appropriate protective gear, such as gloves, headgear and mouth guards, warm-up or cool-down sessions; and knowing how much your body can take in a day.
