James Gunn, the renowned filmmaker behind hits like Guardians of the Galaxy, has once again prompted speculation among fans with his recent social media post. Known for his involvement in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Gunn took to his social media accounts to share the cover of a comic book featuring a lesser-known character from the DC Universe. This move has sparked rumours and theories among fans about the character’s potential appearance in future DCEU projects. The character is Deadman, also known as Boston Brand, who first appeared in 1967 in Strange Adventures #205.
Deadman, as reported by Comicbook, is a circus trapeze artist who, after being murdered, gains the ability to possess any living being. His story revolves around his quest to find his killer, and he has been a part of various superhero teams in the DC Universe, including the Justice League Dark and the Seven Soldiers of Victory.
Gunn’s social media post featuring the cover of Paul Jenkins and Bernard Chang’s 2011 miniseries DC Universe Presents: Deadman #1 has led fans to speculate about the character’s potential introduction in the DCEU.

This isn’t the first time Gunn has teased fans with comic book covers, as he has previously posted covers featuring other DC characters like Mister Terrific and Captain Atom without providing any context.
Given Gunn’s track record with the DCEU, fans are curious to see if Deadman will indeed make his way to the big screen or the small screen in one of Gunn’s upcoming projects.
With the DCEU already packed with a lineup of exciting superhero films and television shows, including projects like Superman, Swamp Thing, and The Authority, the addition of Deadman could further expand the universe and introduce fans to a new, intriguing character.
Regarding his future projects, Gunn released a statement in January saying, “We’re honored to be the stewards of these DC characters we’ve loved since we were children. We’re excited to invigorate the theatrical experience around the world as we tell some of the biggest, most beautiful, and grandest stories ever told,” reports Comicbook.
As of now, it remains unclear where and how Deadman might make his debut in the DCEU. However, fans are hopeful that Gunn’s interest in the character could lead to an exciting new chapter in the ever-expanding DC Universe.
