Uninstall Google Maps. The only way to update the Google Maps narration voice is to change the language and/or region on your iPhone or iPad. The Google Maps voice won’t change unless you install Google Maps after changing the language. To uninstall Google Maps: Tap and hold the Google Maps icon on your home screen. It looks like a map with a red pushpin and white “G” inside. The icons on the screen will start to wiggle. Tap the x on Google Maps. Tap Delete. Press the Home button to make the wiggling stop.
Open your iPhone or iPad’s Settings iPhone Settings App Icon. You’ll usually find this app on the home screen.
Scroll down and tap General.
Tap Language & Region. It’s near the top of the menu.
Tap iPhone Language. It’s the first option.
Select a language or dialect. Many languages, including English and Spanish, have various dialect/accent options. For example, if your iPhone is set to English (Canada) but you want to hear the English voice in an Indian accent/dialect, select English (India). To search for a language or region, type it into the search bar at the top of the screen.
Tap Done. It’s at the top-right corner of the screen. A confirmation message will appear.
Tap Change to
Open the App Store iPhone App Store Icon. Now that you’ve updated your iPhone or iPad’s language, you can re-install Google Maps.
Tap Search. It’s at the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Type google maps into the search bar and tap the search key.
Tap Google Maps – GPS Navigation.
Tap the cloud iPhone App Store Download Button icon. It’s right below the name of the app. This downloads Google Maps back to your phone or tablet.
Open Google Maps and test it out. Now that you’ve updated the language, the Google Maps narrator’s voice will change to match your new settings. To use navigation, tap the arrow pointing right next to the microphone at the top of the map, enter your location and destination, then tap Start.
