Making an Autumn Leaves Cocktail
Combine the liquids in a mixing glass. Use ⁄4 fl oz (22 mL) of rye bourbon, ⁄4 fl oz (22 mL) of apple brandy, ⁄4 fl oz (22 mL) of vermouth, and ⁄4 fl oz (7.4 mL) of Strega.
Add ice and cinnamon, then stir the mixture. Add a few dashes of cinnamon to the liquids, then top up the glass with ice. Stir it vigorously to blend all of the ingredients. If you don't want to use ground cinnamon, you can make a liquid cinnamon tincture by soaking 4 ounces (~113 g) of cinnamon sticks in 16 fl oz (470 mL) of grain alcohol. Let the mixture soak for 3 weeks, then strain the liquid into a bottle.
Strain the drink into an ice-filled glass. Use an old-fashioned glass for a fun autumnal touch. Then garnish it with orange peel and enjoy!
Creating Hard Cider Sangria
Prepare your apples and oranges. You will need 1 orange as well as red, green, and yellow apples. You will need as many apples as it takes to fill a 1 cup (240 mL) measuring cup with thin slices. The precise amount of apples used varies depending on the size of your apples. Peel both the apples and oranges. Quarter the apples and cut them into very thin slices. Quarter the orange and cut it into thin slices as well.
Mix the ingredients in a pitcher. Pour 1 cup (240 mL) of apple juice, 2 tablespoons (30 mL) of fresh lemon juice, and ⁄4 cup (59 mL) of brandy into the pitcher. Stir until the ingredients are uniformly mixed.
Add the hard cider and serve. Wait until you're ready to serve the drink and then pour in a 22 fl oz (650 mL) chilled bottle of hard cider. Serve the drinks in tall glasses over ice.
Mixing up an Apple Hinny
Cut thin strips of apple. Use a green apple as the strips will be a garnish for this drink. Peeling the apple first is optional.
Combine your ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Fill your cocktail shaker 3/4 of the way full with ice. Then, add 1 ⁄2 fl oz (44 mL) of vodka, 1 fl oz (30 mL) of green apple juice, and ⁄2 fl oz (15 mL) of lime juice ginger beer to the shaker. Shake the cocktail until it's completely mixed and then serve. Remember to shake the cocktail shaker until condensation forms on the outside of the shaker.
Garnish with the slices of apple. Place your apple slices along the rim of the glass. This makes a nice garnish for the drink. However, you can leave out the garnish if you prefer your drink without it.
Crafting Virgin Cranberry Sauce Margaritas
Prepare a margarita glass. Dab some water on the rim of the margarita glass. Sprinkle your brown sugar on a plate or another flat surface. Dip the rim of the margarita glass in the sugar so the glass is coated with sugar.
Juice your lime. If you have a juicer or a reamer, you can use that to juice your lime. You can also juice it by slicing it in half and squeezing both halves over a glass to collect the juice. Before cutting the lime, however, roll it along the table. This will help the juice flow more easily. You can also press into the limes with a fork to squeeze out more juice. You need about 1 fl oz (30 mL) of lime juice.
Mix the ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Add the lime juice, 1 ⁄2 tablespoons (22 mL) of cranberry sauce, and 1 teaspoon (4.9 mL) of honey to a cocktail shaker, as well as some ice. Shake the shaker until the ingredients are completely mixed. To adequately chill your cocktail, fill the shaker about 3/4 of the way full. If you want to make this an alcoholic drink, add 1 ⁄2 fl oz (44 mL) of tequila! When water starts to condense on the outside of your shaker, your cocktail is ready.
Garnish the drink if you want. If you want a garnish, add some frozen cranberries. However, it is not necessary to garnish the cocktail. You can enjoy it as soon as you're done mixing it.
