How to Play Papa's Games Without Flash

Don’t worry: you can still get your hit of nostalgia from some of these surprisingly addicting cooking games if you know where to look. We’ll show you where to play a couple of your favorite games in Flipline Studios’ Papa’s series online, and also walk you through downloading the games for offline play. Here’s our complete guide to how to play Papa’s games without Flash.
Steps

Can I still play Papa’s games on my computer?

Unfortunately, most (but not all!) Papa’s games are no longer available online. This includes hits like Papa’s Scooperia, Burgeria, Pancakeria, Freezeria, and Bakeria. Adobe discontinued its support of Flash at the end of 2020, and all modern and secure web browsers stopped being able to play Flash content at the beginning of 2021.

However, Flash emulators can play some Flash content. Developers have been working hard at creating applications that can still run Flash, but since there are so many different kinds of Flash content, it’s been difficult for them to create a solution that can play all Flash games.

There are some websites that use emulators to play Flash games. Luckily, these emulators can play a couple of the Papa’s games already. As developers continue to update emulators, you’ll be able to access more of your favorite Flash games in the future.

What Papa’s games can I still play?

Papa’s Pizzeria: Ready to show off your pizza-making skills? In this game, you’ll take orders from hungry customers, then make a pizza by adding the right toppings, baking it to perfection, and cutting perfect slices. Play Papa’s Pizzeria by clicking here. If you’re on a laptop, it can be a little tough to cut proper slices without a good computer mouse. Find some great options for purchase here.

Papa Louie: When Pizzas Attack!: This exciting adventure is one of Flipline Studios’ first Flash games, and is really different from the cooking time-management games they’re more famous for. Here, you play as an Italian chef who has to defeat the evil Onion Ring in a game that’s similar to a classic Super Mario platformer. Play it here.

How to Use a Flash Emulator for Offline Play

Download the game from Flipline Studios. Flipline Studios have made all of their Flash games available for free download on their website. Visit their website here, and click on the download button next to the game you’d like to play.

Unzip the game’s folder. Locate the folder of the game you downloaded in your hard drive (it may be in the “Downloads” folder). Then, right-click the zipped folder, and click “Unzip.” Once you’ve unzipped the file, you should see a few files in the folder. The one with the “.swf” extension contains the game itself.

Download a SWF file reader. These file readers are Flash emulators, and there are a few options available. While all of them are still works-in-progress that won’t necessarily play every Papa’s game, they will hopefully be able to play more in the future. Download one of the more popular options here: Ruffle, available for Windows and Mac users Lighthouse, available for Windows and Linux users.

Open the SWF file with your emulator. Once you’ve successfully downloaded your SWF file reader, open it as an application. When prompted, open the SWF file of the Papa’s game you’d like to play with the emulator.

Play your Papa’s game offline. If everything goes according to plan, you should be all set to start playing. However, if the emulator isn’t able to read the file, don’t lose hope—with further updates from their developers, there’s still a chance that more Papa’s games will be made available.
