The chief minister's decision came after the high court had earlier given its nod to conduct the examinations from June 8 onward.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday decided to postpone the SSC examinations in the state, hours after the High Court's nod to conduct them from June 8.
The court had earlier allowed the government to conduct the Class 10 exams in the entire state, barring GHMC and Ranga Reddy districts that have high numbers of coronavirus cases.
Later on Saturday, state Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy said the government will announce a strategy to conduct the exams after finalising its decision at a key meeting soon.
The court had instructed the government and education department officials to take all necessary precautions in order to check the spread of coronavirus at examination centres.
