South Actress Lakshmi Manchu Gets PMO Invite; Here's What It May Mean
Just two months back, it was widely reported that Lakshmi Manchu had adopted several schools in Telangana.

Lakshmi Manchu, who has recently been picky about the movies she takes on, will next be seen in the cop drama Agni Nakshatram, which is winding up post-production. She will share a screen for the first time with her father, the politician, actor, and producer Mohan Babu. The actress is known to be quite politically and socially outspoken and has also indulged in philanthropic activities. Just two months back, it was widely reported that Lakshmi Manchu had adopted several schools in Telangana through her NGO Teach For Change, a move that will benefit 16,497 students.

Teach For Change has collaborated with district collectors, district educational officers, and teachers from government schools to carry out the programme throughout the year. This move has led to speculations on whether Lakshmi is doing the groundwork for her political debut, something which has been speculated for long. A recent development has only added fuel to these rumours.

If reports are to be believed, Lakshmi has received an invitation from the Prime Minister’s Office on September 20 to be in Delhi for a meeting or an event to be held today. Considering her father’s good rapport with BJP leaders over the years, some believe that the BJP is attempting to make her join its ranks. Other reports say that she may have been invited to speak on the recent approval of the Women’s Reservation Bill by the Lok Sabha. Many women holding positions of power all over the country have reportedly gathered in the national capital to speak on the subject of the bill and Lakshmi Manchu may be one of them. We have to wait and watch to know the true purpose behind the invitation.

The actress’s father Manchu Mohan Babu has been associated with politics for a long time. Initially a member of the Telugu Desam party, he was away from politics for a while after NT Rama Rao’s death. He then joined the YSR Congress Party in 2019. As Mohan Babu and his family met PM Narendra Modi at the start of 2020, there were rumours that the BJP invited him to join the national party.
