A 10-year-old boy made a hoax bomb call to the police control room after watching a television soap which showed police reaching the spot within minutes of dialing 100.
Shameem, a resident of Ravatpur, called the police on Thursday and informed them of a blast at an intersection near a salt factory in the area, police said.
Many police teams rushed the spot and found the news to be false.
On investigation, it was revealed that the news came from the child. On questioning, the boy confessed to making the call. He said that he wanted to see the reaction of the police to the bomb alert.
The family members were pulled up by the police and the child was given a warning to not repeat the act in future, SP, Rural, Anil Mishra said.
Since it was a 10-year-old boy who made the call, we let him off with a warning, Mishra said, adding, police would have taken action if the call was made by an adult.
